Bible Reading Questions
This week I would like you to write a reflection blog on a passage of scripture. You may choose any passage but it can't be a few verses, you must read a portion, a whole story. Spend 10-15 minutes in reading. I would suggest picking an epistle and read that all the way. Or perhaps the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7). After spending time reading and reflecting, remember be fed by the passage. I have given just a few questions to consider, add depth to your answer, no one sentence getting straight to the point answers.
What passage did you choose and what is described in the passage you chose (what is it about)?
What do you think the reader is meant to understand about the passage you chose (you may need a secondary source, like a commentary, to clarify portions of your scripture, here is a commentary resource http://www.biblegateway.com/resources/commentaries/ )?
How could this passage challenge or help someone? OR What situations could someone be going through and this scripture seems helpful?
Respond in your own blog, not as a comment to this post.

Models of the Church
Now that we have discussed each model, I would like you to take the following online quiz.
http://quizfarm.com/quiz_repository/Fashion/7764/
This quiz is far from fool proof, meaning it has weaknesses, but I think it will challenge you to consider what model you have a tendency to be moved by. If you don't understand a question research the words using google in another browser window and give the quiz a good effort. When you are done I want you to copy your results as a blogpost on your page, not as a comment to this post. When you post your results give a 3-4 sentence minimum evaluation of what the results came back as, do you agree with the results? why or why not?
I've taken the quiz several times now and each time I have put something a little diffrent as I have read each question and been able to answer some questions in a few different ways. Here are the results from when I took it today and below that I will post from when I took it a month ago (I am sure that I will not always lean towards these models in the same way my whole life).
| What is your model of the church? [Dulles] | ||||||||||||||||||||
| You scored as a Servant Model | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Your model of the church is Servant. The mission of the church is to serve others, to challenge unjust structures, and to live the preferential option for the poor. This model could be complemented by other models that focus more on the unique person of Jesus Christ. | ||||||||||||||||||||
|
89% for both Servant and Sacramental, 72% Mystical Communion, 44% herald, 28% Institution
And as my Christmas gift to students, any blogpost you create over the Christmas break I will count as a replacement for any of your missing blogs so far this quarter. Those of you who are completely caught up I will count up to two blogposts as a "reserve bank" for any future missing blogposts. I won't count comments cause that will take me too long, but I would encourage giving your classmates feedback. Have a great break!

Personality Test
"Self-knowledge puts us on our knees, and it very necessary for love. For knowledge of God gives love, and knowledge of self gives humility." Mother Teresa
Take the full version of this test (http://similarminds.com/embj.html) When you are done comment back your personality letters and which number Enneagram was your highest. At the bottom of the results page click on the links that interest you and read more on your type. Another great site to read up on your type is The Personality page, simply put in your type in google and click the link that matches your type and is through the Personalitypage.com.
I would like for us to be able to discuss how close of a match we seem to be to our types this week.
I hope you have fun in this self-discovery and yes you do have a personality
