Photos

I only recieved two entries but they are both beautiful pics.  Please comment or email me which photo you prefer either A or B.  Please do not give away who may have taken the pictures, I don't want it to be about the artist who took them, but about the art it self.

Picture A: I picked that picture because of what we've been discussing a little bit...as in adding a little
beauty to an 'uglified' world. I took it in Arizona.

Picture B: Here's a picture that I took at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and it's called " Social Conciousness", I thought it would fit our theme perfectly!

Lewiston Mayor declares 9/24 Family Day

Please click on the link to read the article out of the Sunjournal and let me know you have read it by either leaving a reaction or by just saying that you read the link.

I'm glad to see everyone getting into their projects, because of everyone's enthusiasm and great ideas, I have tabled a lot of the lecture material I planned on giving you, just notes on exegesis and hermenuetics we can talk about at another time Laughing

Just a reminder I want everyone to keep up their great work and ideas, the ideas are tremendous!  My one fear is that some projects may fall apart when group members don't hold up their jobs, or get too far behind and then the work is less than expected. When you are making these ideas take small steps everyday to get the total project accomplished, don't save everything until the end.  The ideas are great and will make the projects amazing if it all comes together.  Take it from someone who has been there-done that, procrastination doesn't work...or when it does, its too late to be great!  Doesn't TJ have a great procrastination shirt?  What does it say?

Want extra credit?

I would like to offer an extra credit deal to the individual who can come up with the best photo that represents what our class is all about.  Be artisitic and creative.  The photos don't need to have any image of the school or students, just somehow relate to Christian service or activism.  If you have people in it make sure you have their permission.  The best photo would replace the school bus pic on our homepage.  Please submit your photo(s) to me through email at djoyce@vineyardschool.net  I will make a blog post showing all the photos.  Then each person can send me their vote.

Now comes a disclaimer.  The photos you submit to me must be your own pictures, do not take any photos from another website and claim as your own.

Please submit all photos by Sunday September 23 so I can have them on the site for voting for Monday 9/24.

Stop Apathy!

FROM WIKIPEDIA:

Apathy is a psychological term for a state of indifference — where an individual is unresponsive or "indifferent" to aspects of emotional, social, or physical life. Clinical apathy is considered to be at an elevated level, while a moderate level might be considered depression, and an extreme level could be diagnosed as a dissociative disorder. The physical aspect of apathy associated with physical deterioration, muscle loss, and lack of energy is called lethargy — which has many pathological causes as well.

Apathy can be object-specific — toward a person, activity or environment. It is a common reaction to stress where it manifests as "learned helplessness" and is commonly associated with depression. It can also reflect a non-pathological lack of interest in things one does not consider important.

Apathy is also set of morals in which you really don't care about much. "Ignorance is bliss"

Jesus says what you do for the "Least of these you do for me" if we are truly to believe who Christ is then our response are to be agents of love and service. Apathy is counterproductive when it comes to issues such as poverty. Students, please respond to this post with your thoughts.  Look at the wikipedia definition of apathy and think about what its history meant as a philosphy that was/maybe still is prevalent in the Church.
