Deglorifying the Church
Well today is Easter Sunday, and I remembered that I hadn't done any blogs this week (though I'm still not sure if any are due..) but anyway. I went to my mom's room to write a blog on a somewhat strange experience I had on Good Friday, but the power was out so I went over to the other building to see how they were handling it.
When I arrived, I heard that they had been in the middle of a VERY powerful worship session when the power went out. I could still hear singing, so I went into the service--there were very few lights and the entire worship team was up on the bleachers with the choir, singing their hearts out, with only some bongoes and an acoustic guitar to accompany them. It. was. incredible.
Later on I heard that someone in the sound booth, seeing how worship was going, pointed to the stage and said "Now that's worship." It was.
You all know about the new building with the latest technology, the amazing auditorium with magnificent lighting, and those sheet things on the back walls of the stage that can change color with the lights, right? Well, none of that stuff was able to be used anymore. The emergency lights were on, and the room was very dark. The weird part of it is that the power had no sensible reason to be off, considering that the wind was nowhere NEAR strong enough to knock out the power lines, and not everything was crashed.
I strongly believe that Satan was trying to stop God from moving this morning, but he didn't succeed. Worship went on, Phil's sermon went on, and SOMEONE GOT SAVED... Could it have been any better than THAT?
It was great, because the attraction to the church turned out to be because of the prescence of God, and that ALONE. The attraction was no longer technical or worldly. We were not the flashy, up to date church anymore. We were just the CHURCH. It. was. amazing. I don't think that ANYONE will forget what happened today:)
Current mood:overjoyed with the power of God's love
